About Captain Jack's Seafood Locker:

Is Captain Jack's just an online store?

No, we also have a retail seafood market and gift shop by the harbor in Seward, Alaska, where we sell fresh and frozen Alaska seafood. Captain Jack's sells Alaskan made gifts such as pottery, art prints, soaps, our signature clothing, books, and other gourmet food items. We also have two processing locations in Seward. One processes sport-caught fish and the other processes the commercially harvested fish sold here and in our local Alaskan seafood market.

Is "Captain Jack" really a woman?

Yes, the owner, Elle, has been at the helm for over a decade. Every year fishermen ask to speak to "Jack" and are surprised at who they get. Elle gets the "but you're a girl!" remark all the time on the docks. But really, Captain Elle's Seafood Locker? That sounds ridiculous. The original owner's name was Jack.

Does Captain Jack's Seafood Locker have charter fishing boats in Seward?

No, but Elle's husband Steve owns ProFish-n-Sea Charters in Seward and has two boats. You can contact ProFish-n-Sea Charters at www.profish-n-sea.com for reservations. Captain Jack's also often gets confused with Crackerjack Sportfishing, because our names sound similar.

About our products:

Are your products all "wild"?

All the products that Captain Jack's Seafood Locker sells are "wild-caught" in the waters of Alaska. Most are caught by fishermen we know, so we are confident about the care of our fish and seafood from the moment it comes out of the water until it reaches your doorstep.

How does the seafood look when it arrives?

All your fish will be vacuum sealed and frozen in approximately one pound portions for easier handling in your home. If a product is portioned differently than this, it is stated in the description of that specific item. Crab is wrapped in a plastic "crab bag" inside the shipping box.

Is all the seafood raw?

All of our products are raw except Crab which is precooked when harvested and is stored frozen. It simply needs to be reheated. Also, smoked products are ready to eat after they are thawed.

Does the fish have bones?

Fish have bones. Certain cuts of seafood may be boneless such as our halibut, which is cut in a way that the finished product has no bones. The tail section of a salmon fillet will most times not have bones, but a "shoulder" section will have small bones that are called pin bones.

How do I cook my Alaskan Seafood?

A multi page pamphlet will be included with every shipment. It contains handling instructions, our return policy, cooking instructions and has a few recipes for those looking for a little inspiraton.

About Shipping

Please read our shipping info page before you order. It has all the information you should know about how we ship our products and our shipping policies.

Are the insulated box and gel ice recyclable?

Styrofoam boxes are not recyclable, but they are reusable until they crack or break. Just use them as you would any insulated cooler. The gel-ice packs are also reusable until the seal is compromised. Put them in the freezer and they can be used again and again to keep things cold. The gel is water based and is non-toxic.

About Ordering:

Can I combine different products such as crab and halibut in the same order?

Yes, anything we sell can be combined in the same box. Order as many different products as you like.

Will my Alaskan Seafood be frozen when it arrives?

Your seafood should arrive in a partially to completely frozen state. Put it into the freezer immediately if you don't wish to eat it within the next few days.

What can I do if I want to order seafood, but I do not want to order online?

Call us at 1-877-323-6638 and we would be happy to take your order and payment information over the phone.

Does Captain Jack's include a card for gift orders?

Yes, we have special occasion and holiday cards available at no added charge. Simply let us know what you would like to say in the comments section while placing your order.

What credit cards to you accept?

We accept Visa , Mastercard, American Express, and Discover.
