Alaska Halibut and Black Cod

Captain Jack’s Seafood Locker works with local long-line fishermen here in Seward, Alaska to deliver the finest Alaskan Halibut and Black Cod directly to your table. Unlike most fish and seafood markets, we can tell you when your Alaskan halibut or black cod was caught, on what boat it was caught, even where it was caught. This is because Captain Jack’s works with a select group of fishermen who adhere to the highest standards of quality care to ensure the fish you buy have received the finest care from the depths of Alaska’s icy-cold waters all the way to your door. Our wild Alaskan halibut and black cod is responsibly harvested from a sustainable fishery. The Alaska setline fisheries for halibut and black cod have been certified by the Marine Stewardship Council as sustainable in recognition of good stewardship and good management practices.

Wild Alaskan Halibut Fillets

Halibut are among the most highly prized fish to be commercially harvested in Alaska. Renowned for the firm white flesh they yield, halibut are a staple of Alaska seafood. Captain Jack)s beautiful snow-white halibut fillets are boneless, skinless, and are perfect for the barbeque, oven, or deep fryer. We offer the tastiest fillets, carefully cut from ideally sized halibut to ensure pristine texture, moisture content, and flavor. Fillets are cut into pieces ranging from 1/3 lb. to 1 pound, vacuum sealed, and blast frozen to lock in their fresh flavor. See our recipes page for the best way to cook fresh Alaska halibut.

Alaskan Halibut Cheeks

Halibut cheeks are a highly regarded but little known gem. Cut from the head of the halibut the cheeks have a unique texture and flavor, similar to a scallop. These sweet, flavorful morsels will melt in your mouth. Halibut cheeks are perfect for sautiing with wine, butter, and garlic or lightly breaded and pan fried. Halibut cheeks are cut, skinned, vacuum packaged, and frozen in 1 pound portions.

Gulf of Alaska Black Cod (Sablefish)

Harvested fresh from the icy depths of the Gulf of Alaska comes a succulent white-fish with loads of flavor. Black cod, also known as Sablefish, has been increasingly popularized by renowned chefs for its versatility in the kitchen and its flaky fine textured flesh. The firm, white meat is loaded with Omega-3 oils and can be baked, broiled, poached, or grilled to prepare a savory fish-lovers treat. For years most of the Alaskan catch of black cod was exported to Japan where it has long been recognized as excellent fare. Recently however, domestic seafood connoisseurs have begun to demand that more of the catch be distributed locally. At our dockside processing facility, fresh black cod is quickly filleted and portioned in pieces ranging between 1/3 to 1 pound, vacuum packaged, and blast frozen to lock in the pristine flavor and texture of this unique fish.
